In the city of New York in the near future, things are dark and foreboding.
Nearly a decade has passed since fear of the chaos brought by beings with superhuman abilities drove the populace to demonize and persecute anyone with magic, mutations or extra normal abilities.
The state locked itself down, separating from the united states and declaring martial law. Strict curfew, police with little to no restraint. And above all?
No Masks. No capes. No heroes.
But plenty of villains.
It is in this dark and dreary world that we meet Cassandra "Sandy" Marko.
And it is here where she meets Eli.
It's raining, seems like it's always raining as far as Sandy can recall. And the rain is hitting her face faster as she's chased down the street by a police officer with a thick barrel like chest and a neck like a horse. Further down the street cries of pain indicate where his partner has caught and is currently assaulting another child with a taser.
Their crime was clear red letters spray painted onto a red wall.
We Need Her
The last letter which was supposed to spell out "Heros" is distorted because they were caught before they could finish.
Sandy is fast, she's always been faster then the other kids and that's why she's never the one caught. But today she might be out of luck. Maybe it's because the police officer behind her looks like he works out every day, maybe it's time she replace the ratty sneakers she found in a thrift store.
Either way as she turns into a nearby park and races for the playground, things aren't looking good for her.
She could either use a new hero...or a much more frightening villain.
